BUBBLE CAT

Umm, excuse me? I must have one of these, or one for each cat. Wilson and Lucinda would LOVE these! aaand they are easy on the eyes, unlike many many not so cute cat accessories out there. In fact, they are BEAUTIFUL! Hand felted, and the color is spot on.  Vaiva Nat has got some wonderful handmade items in her shop including these splendid cat beds. I especially like this, and this. I wish she could make one for me to sleep in.

KAPOWW!

Thats what my mind hears when I see these.  The color takes a fist to your face and I like it.  Get'em here!...and its thursday.  Christmas is so close, and there is so much shopping to do! I wish I was in New York, seeing the city all festive... it always was my favorite time of year.  Union Square Holiday Market served me well last year.  Ahhhh, well Portland is pretty magical too! (but no snow yet, whats up with that?)

Remember how I have a thing with birds? Well I love these prints by Anna See, and I think I may have to buy a few to put in my apartment.  They are so simple and colorful, and I love the mood.

FREEZE POPS

Oh my goodness... we made it to Friday. Wooohooo!!!

Dying to make some of these frozen fruit pops, or Mexican Paletas. So easy, so fun, so delicious! I think I've found my Saturday activity.  Peach, Apricot, Orange... I can't decide.  But I wish I was eating them right now, outside in the sun, on a blanket made from this beautiful fabric.  Recipe below...

Spicy Peach Paletas

What you'll need...

5 Large Ripe Peaches

1 Bucket of Ice Water

1/2 Cup Pure Cane Sugar

1 Lemon

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

2 Teaspoons of Chili Powder (O.H. Recommended)

Pinch of Salt

1/4 Cup of Milk

How to make it...

Score each peach with an "X" on the bottom opposite stem side.

Blanch in boiling water for no more than 1 minute.

Drop into ice bath, this should make the skin peel off easily... (peel off skin).

Liquify sugar, juice of one lemon, cinnamon, chili powder, pinch of salt, and milk in blender.

Pour into popsicle mold, freeze, and enjoy!!

Well folks, I made it to a quarter of a century. Pretty crazy... living on this earth for 25 years.  I have had a lot of great birthdays: pool parties, hair care, cowboys and indians, Whirly Ball, Wet 'n Wild, backpacking trips, concerts, Camp Ozark, and LOTS of times on a ranch in Wyoming.

It is amazing what you can accomplish in a year (not all good stuff of course), and every year just gets better as we grow up.  25 is going to be a monumental year for me; there are lots of changes coming my way, but I plan to face them head on and with extreme enthusiasm! Im so pumped!

Well folks, I'm taking off for the weekend,  Happy Fourth of July!  I'll be gettin' down on the dance floor at a good friends wedding. "festive attire optional"... duh, I'll be there, in red, white, blue, and fringe cowboy boots, don't you worry.

Holy Amazing! Loving these prints... Erin Tyner of Atlanta is creating some amazing work.  I am especially intrigued by her "Half Awake" diorama series.  I would hang this on my wall for sure.  There is something haunting yet charming about them all at the same time.  I love it... art that makes you think.  To hear what she has to say about the inspiration, artistry, and construction behind the series, and to see more, click here.

Tyner's work evokes feelings of solitude, emptiness, and angst, yet is cut with the childish and playful essence of toys, or in this case, HO scale model train figures. This duality creates an undeniable depth to her work that can be continually appreciated by consumers, creators, and curators alike.

References that come to mind (which may or may not be intentional) are: The Wizard of OZ, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Awakening, Little Red Riding Hood, and Alfred Hitchcock.  What do you see?
