LOOK! VINTAGE FLORAL

Summer is glorious (especially in Maine!), and this look was inspired by all the color that has emerged over the past few months. Hot pink, yellow, and especially GREEN! I love the color on color on color effect, it makes things so interesting/complex and you really feel so happy wrapped up in all that pattern-y goodness.  You don't even need accessories, although I would be totally fine piling on the jewels... arm party anyone? Now I just need to find the right occasion to wear this.It is amazing how much impact one piece of cloth can have; I picked up this vintage Suzani textile in Istanbul a few years ago. You just can't even believe the color, and I love how much it adds to the composition. Now it hangs behind my bed as a headboard... Emily and I had so much fun shooting this on such a gorgeous day... can you tell?

COASTAL BEAUTIES

Spring is here? Sa-weeet! It has been so beautiful in Maine.  I think I'll take after these beauties and head out to the rocky coast. First I need a vintage bathing suit though. Thinking of either this one, or this one.

FREEZE POPS

Oh my goodness... we made it to Friday. Wooohooo!!!

Dying to make some of these frozen fruit pops, or Mexican Paletas. So easy, so fun, so delicious! I think I've found my Saturday activity.  Peach, Apricot, Orange... I can't decide.  But I wish I was eating them right now, outside in the sun, on a blanket made from this beautiful fabric.  Recipe below...

Spicy Peach Paletas

What you'll need...

5 Large Ripe Peaches
1 Bucket of Ice Water
1/2 Cup Pure Cane Sugar
1 Lemon
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
2 Teaspoons of Chili Powder (O.H. Recommended)
Pinch of Salt
1/4 Cup of Milk

How to make it...

Score each peach with an "X" on the bottom opposite stem side.
Blanch in boiling water for no more than 1 minute.
Drop into ice bath, this should make the skin peel off easily... (peel off skin).
Liquify sugar, juice of one lemon, cinnamon, chili powder, pinch of salt, and milk in blender.
Pour into popsicle mold, freeze, and enjoy!!

(This recipe and popsicle image was found here, on "Things Wot I Made Then Ate", its an amazing food blog I just discovered, I LOVE how she explains everything and with such witty humor. AWESOME. Definitely going to be a regular reader from now on...)

Happy summer, people.
This weekend, I am takin' it easy... have a wonderful weekend!

AND I'LL CRY IF I WANT TO

Well folks, I made it to a quarter of a century. Pretty crazy... living on this earth for 25 years.  I have had a lot of great birthdays: pool parties, hair care, cowboys and indians, Whirly Ball, Wet 'n Wild, backpacking trips, concerts, Camp Ozark, and LOTS of times on a ranch in Wyoming.

It is amazing what you can accomplish in a year (not all good stuff of course), and every year just gets better as we grow up.  25 is going to be a monumental year for me; there are lots of changes coming my way, but I plan to face them head on and with extreme enthusiasm! Im so pumped!

Thanks to all who made this day so special, Cheers!

LOOK! GERANIUM

New York City from my perspective.

"In a world made of steel, made of stone"... thanks Irene Cara.  She gets me through a lot, definitely my favorite song of all time ("What a Feeling" from Flashdance, for the newbs).  I hope to do more of these style-ish posts... hard to do without looking like a total goon (you must tell me if it starts to swing that way!).
Shoes from Anthopologie, Nail Color "Geranium" by Essie, Vintage Lanvin Skirt, and my favorite version of "What a Feeling"

ART ROCKS

Inspired by these gems I picked up in Eureka Springs, AR at this quirky spot, here's a smattering of awesome artful products.  Travel photos to come... if you haven't been to Eureka Springs, AR, a.k.a. "Little Switzerland" you are missing out! Such a strange and beautiful place full of strange and beautiful people.

Matter Matters Smolten Mirror, Ruth Gurvich's Light Scape (Painted)

...and for your general knowledge... Gypsum Rose, Pyrite, and Mica.

Cheers!  Thanks for all the recent support... I think O.H. is gaining a little traction/ rhythm, couldn't do it with out y'all!

CELEBRATE!

Well folks, I'm taking off for the weekend,  Happy Fourth of July!  I'll be gettin' down on the dance floor at a good friends wedding. "festive attire optional"... duh, I'll be there, in red, white, blue, and fringe cowboy boots, don't you worry.

Here's a little pink with your RWB today... I want that suitcase! You can find it on Etsy, along with the lighter fluid can, I just love old stuff.

MORE RWB

America's Birthday is gettin' close!

Plastica = Awesomeness.  I love their products, and I gave this to my boyfriend.
And, how bout those lips? RED!

AHOY!

Gorgeous. I think I'll wear both these things this weekend... wishing I was in Maine, eating lobster, and being nautical.

You can do the Nautical thing either way you want, don't forget the ice cream!  Can you tell Maine is influencing many of the posts? Its such an amazing place for inspiration...

Have a great weekend!

REIGNING MCQUEEN

The Alexander McQueen show at the Met was INSANE! McQueen was such a freak genius... His attention to detail, his method of constructing clothes, his innovative use of materials, and groundbreaking, cross the line, almost disturbing concepts have made him one of the most respected, and awed designers of all time.  If you can, GO. You will not be disappointed.

Here are some of my faves from the show... absolutely stunning.

See the rest of the show here.

I feel so inspired!

SUITED FOR SUMMER

This weekend was so amazing (albeit a bit chilly), the sun was shining and everyone was smiling! Delightful.  LOVE these suits and the vintage vibe.  Looking forward to some lazy summer days and dreaming of it daily... Enjoy!
